"Paulo Monteiro: The Interior of Distance" brings to the public a matured selection of the artist's work, aiming to represent the density of the world in his pieces in a simple manner, devoid of grand gestures or excesses. It's as if, through simplicity, he intends to address the deepest aspects of our everyday life. With over 130 images, the book delves into the artist's production from the period spanning 2009 to 2015. It gathers paintings, sculptures, installations, and exhibition images resulting from his long-standing dedication and commitment to artistic creation.
By compiling dozens of Paulo Monteiro's works found in private collections, including those of Adriana Varejão, José Olympio Pereira, and Marcantonio Villaça, as well as in the collections of significant institutions like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, which acquired his works in 2014, the book portrays the artist's recognition and acclaim.
