This painting draws inspiration from the story of the three daughters of King Cecrops of Athens, entrusted by Athena with a secret meant to remain hidden. Given a chest with a single command—never to open it—Pandrosos respects the boundary, while her sisters succumb to curiosity and look inside. I sought to capture the moment just before that boundary is broken.
