This composition came about strangely. I wanted to create an image floating in the sky above the city that speaks to our relationship with fiction and its link to reality. On the other hand, I had assembled these two characters in an Elden Ring landscape about two years ago, I think. It was a clumsy and unfinished composition. Elden Ring is quite a phenomenal video game that I have played. I don’t necessarily know these universes very well, but on one hand, video games and, on the other, heroic fantasy are phenomena that I find truly interesting. Especially in terms of collective production, it seems to me that certain video games will become part of the intangible heritage that marks our era. To give body to the background of the advertising landscape—which is, therefore, a screenshot of Elden Ring—I added the tomb of Phaedra and Hippolytus, kept in Arles, twice. In front, a kind of scene that is very erotically charged, but also quite ambiguous in what it carries. The manipulation of our sexuality is the most sordid trait of advertising. The desire to desire or the desire to be desired is corrupted to collectively destroy the world. I feel that these are kinds of nebulae of more or less complex worlds that allow us to leave the world while creating an often-cruel reflection. Themes like diplomacy are explored…
