From 22 November 2025 to 1 March 2026, the Vincent van GoghHuis in Zundert presents the exhibition Winterkoers – Van Gogh in Antwerp. Two Antwerp-based artists, who also teach at the academy there, have been invited as guest curators: Nadia Naveau and Nick Andrews. They have selected a group of artists with close ties to Antwerp and invited Hans Wuyts to develop the scenography.
The exhibition brings together a diverse group of artists and alumni to explore the themes that inspired Van Gogh and to present contemporary reflections on his artistic search and practice. Just as Van Gogh actively sought dialogue with other artists during his lifetime, the exhibition emphasizes the importance of collaboration and cultural exchange.
Colour and light are at the heart of the exhibition, not only as artistic elements but also as symbols of insight and communication. Folklore and social engagement play an important role, allowing art to bridge aesthetics and social meaning. Van Gogh’s itinerant life is echoed in the dynamics of contemporary artist collectives and collaborations. The participating artists cross cultural boundaries, demonstrating how mobility and interaction can foster artistic innovation. The exhibition brings together a wide range of media—from painting and sculpture to video, performance, and archival material—while also placing the creative process at its core.
