In some manner, the Offering talks to the other work, “Other métiers”, since it has a head in play as well, although this head is the object of the offering itself, in this case, an offering for blessings on the métier.
There is a reference that invokes a term from the candomblé tradition itself, Ori, which is an offering done to an Orisha, and “Orí” means head.
This is exactly what the picture illustrates: it depicts the head as the element being offered, also alludes to the element of rationality, the element of thought, residing in the mind. Reasoning about this whole creation conceived by my hands in this artistic work, it is too a mental output. It is as if I was offering this head on behalf of this work in a nearly devotional deed, given this figure is offering the altar on his knees.
In effect, therein I speak of the Métier. This work, the situation given. Thus, the offering act is a way of giving meaning to the work of the artist itself, in this case. Furthermore, I believe there is a strong intimate connection, in which the métier is something given, as a mission.
