In this work from the Legend series, Bosmans paint a holotype of a bird he saw in Brazil. The holotype is like a special example or picture of an organism. It's the one that scientists use when they first officially describe a new species or group. It can be the only example or picture, or one of a few, but it's specifically chosen as the holotype. The artwork is created using gouache and silver pen, paying homage to the techniques of the Renaissance old masters while incorporating a uniquely unconventional graphic painting style.
