The 2m 70cm in the title refers to a metal wire that Suga melted down to create the bulbous mass in the center of the metal plate. From the beginning of his career Suga has been interested in the different states of the same material—solid, liquid, gas. Among many concepts and philosophies that interested him as a student in the 1960s was Topology, the mathematical discipline that theorizes that all matter can enter a state of phase, in which it can be reshaped from one form into another without losing mass.
