"Acrylic on silk over mahogany stretcher"
"Two Nijinsky portraits as the clown Petrushka in a Stravinsky ballet hanging on recto/verso
sides of the same wall. One facing the stairs – the darker in value, submerged in color, one of
the first work seen by a viewer, but easily neglected. The other in the intimate Annex room
with the other two painting-as-drawing works. The annex forms a triangular cave of
vulnerable/private/inner space, that is quiet and true and introspective and self-examining.
Petrushka is a symbol of jealousy in love. Rodin has adempted to make sculptures of
Nijinsky, unfinished. Nijinsky’s breakdown."
