Small portraits like this one, produced at the end of 2020, are a continuation of an interest in portraying the people and events around me through this synthetical form, very typical of modern Latin American figuration and relate especially to Mexican muralism. The experiences with the backgrounds imprinted in red and yellow ochre allowed me to develop a figuration that also recalls the simplified aspect of clay and ceramics created in Ceará, Brazil the place where I was born. This motif of female figures performing everyday tasks is typical in Northeastern folk art; those women gain an air of enchantment in this suspension of time when captured in painting. Every portrait is a manifestation of dignity and respect for the object portrayed.
