For Artes Mundi 8, the artist has created a new piece, 'Double Plot'. In this large tapestry figures with missing limbs and heads sprout blue flowers and metal rods from their dislocated bodies. As with much of Nkanga’s work, the body, earth, plants and other elements depicted are literally woven together. Nkanga reminds us that everything is interconnected and that decisions taken politically have deep geological, human and social repercussions.
